We understand how hard it can be to see your pet in pain. That’s why we offer alternative medical options to help your pets when they are not feeling their best. Like people, as pets age, they’re more likely to develop health conditions that can cause pain and discomfort. And, while pain medications can provide some temporary relief, they can also cause a number of side effects. Here’s a look at some alternative ways we can help relieve your pet’s pain.
You may not be aware of this, but acupuncture works just as well on pets as it does on people. We perform acupuncture to provide your pet with natural pain relief. An ancient Chinese therapy, acupuncture decreases inflammation, stimulates nerves, and improves circulation. During an acupuncture treatment, small-gauge needles are placed into the pet’s skin in specific areas—the areas where the body’s life energy, or Qi, flows. Acupuncture needles are small and do not cause pain when they are inserted. In fact, dogs and cats often become relaxed during acupuncture treatments and can even fall asleep.
We can discuss this treatment during your pet’s next wellness exam! One of our most beneficial service we offer is a thorough comprehensive wellness exam. This examination is performed by one of our experienced veterinarians. We recommend one annual examination per year for our adult companions. For our Senior or compromised companions, we recommend every 6 months to stay on top of any changes. These examinations are essential for your companion and will enable us to diagnose health problems early, making treatment more effective, less involved and ultimately less costly for you.
We’re here if you have any questions at all.
